Overall, our target audience, available mediums, and designated applications required us to cut our one hour interview down to a video that was a little longer than five minutes (ours is eight so far). If allowed, my group would have loved to publish the entire video, but instead we had to cut out some of our favorite parts in order to tell the story that needed to be told. Some of those highlights for us included her “baby activist” daughter, her comments on Trump, and her emotional, loving stories about her family members.
Meta-cognitive Knowledge includes evidencing thoughtful, reflective practices throughout each step of your compositional process. The third step of this course after the Audio Essay was the video. (Throughout this entire website I provide my reasoning for every step of creating this video, so I will summarize here.) Absolutely everything I learned in this course was applied to this project, and I mean everything. We got a lot of editing help from our peers to focus on structuring the video into a coherent story. We picked the pieces Chanda wanted to focus on, leaving our favorites to stay only in our heads and as part of this reflection. Every step of the way required focus and attention to detail, and I hope Chanda appreciates iur hard work and what we were able to create to the best of our abilities.
