Subject-Matter Knowledge, or engaging the rich, complex subject matter you have chosen and conducting appropriate research to compose an informed and thoughtful essay for your chosen audience, was achieved through the research we conducted prior to interviewing Chanda. We researched information relating to refugees all semester and focused on Cambodia once we knew we would be interviewing Chanda. We got to prepare by asking Chanda and Sana the best way to conduct interviews ethically and morally, and also how to appropriately share our stories with them without undermining the scale of theirs.
