Meta-cognitive Knowledge includes evidencing thoughtful, reflective practices throughout each step of your compositional process. The second step of this course after the I Am From poem was the audio essay. We were informed that this piece would be shared with our community member. Therefore, I had a difficult time deciding what to write then speak about. I knew there was absolutely nothing in my life that could ever amount to the scale of the refugee crisis. I took the lines of the poem that Kate Green seemed to like the most and seemed most happy and memory-filled for me. I wrote about those, created a close to final product, and still asked Chanda and Sana for their opinions on the scale of the story I would tell. Chanda made me feel confident in my piece, even though she had no idea what it was, because she told me every story, feeling, or thought that I have is valid. If it means something to me, it is important and good enough to share. Thus, below is my final product and I am proud of it.
Writing Process Knowledge includes evidencing significant recursive writing/thinking by developing, exploring, interpreting, evaluating, and revising content, style, and design throughout the process of composing your audio essay. The audio essay begins with two lines from my poem and has music, but it does not have sound effects. I added them at one point, but I did not want to disrupt the listener's understanding or overload my piece. I wanted my story to be told and understood.
